Severe Thunderstorm Watch In Effect For Westchester

With a new round of storms developing, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for much of the Northeast.

In New York, the following counties:

  • Westchester
  • Putnam
  • Dutchess
  • Rockland
  • Orange
  • Ulster
  • Sullivan
  • Albany
  • Columbia
  • Greene
  • Rensselaer
  • Schoharie

The watch covers all eight counties in Connecticut and the following counties in Massachusetts:

  • Berkshire
  • Bristol
  • Essex
  • Franklin
  • Hampden
  • Hampshire
  • Middlesex
  • Norfolk
  • Plymouth
  • Suffolk
  • Worcester

The watch was issued at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, July 27, by the National Weather Service and is in effect until 8 p.m. Thursday.

Some of the storms could produce gusty winds, frequent lightning, heavy rain, hail, and localized flash flooding. Isolated tornadoes are also possible.
